Driving Innovation Forward: AM4BAT Consortium Meets in Vienna to Tackle Key Technical Milestones

The AM4BAT Project has just concluded a successful consortium meeting in Vienna, hosted by AIT Austrian Institute of Technology. Over two intensive days, partners from across Europe came together to assess progress, address critical challenges, and reinforce our shared commitment to developing next-generation lithium-ion solid-state batteries.

Day 1: Advancing Core Technologies

The first day focused on technical progress across several work packages that are central to the project’s innovation strategy:

WP3 – Hybrid Solid Electrolyte (led by TORRECID, S.A.)

WP4 – Cathode Composite (led by AIT Austrian Institute of Technology)

WP5 – Current Collector Tailoring for Anode-Free Systems (led by Leitat Technological Center)

WP6 – Modelling and Advanced Characterisation of Single-Layer Cells (led by CEA)

The consortium delved into in-depth discussions, exploring technical approaches, recent results, and the next steps required to reach our objectives. The sessions were marked by strong collaboration and a shared sense of purpose.

Day 2: Building the Framework for Impact

The second day shifted focus toward the broader project framework and long-term impact:

WP7 – Cell Manufacturing and Validation

WP8 – Sustainability Impact Assessments

WP9 – Dissemination, Communication and Market Uptake

WP1 – Project Management

The day concluded with a visit to AIT’s cutting-edge laboratories, offering a closer look at the advanced infrastructure supporting our work.

Looking Ahead: Sharing the People Behind the Innovation

Throughout the meeting, we also recorded a series of interviews with key partners, which will soon be shared on our communication channels. These will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the researchers and institutions driving AM4BAT forward.

We extend our sincere thanks to AIT for their excellent organisation and hospitality, both during the working sessions and the consortium dinner.

As AM4BAT continues to push the boundaries of battery innovation, we remain united in our mission: enabling lighter, safer, and more sustainable lithium-ion batteries to accelerate Europe’s transition to electric mobility.

Stay tuned — the journey continues. ⚡🇪🇺
